Turing × · Computation meets contemplation

Two ways of
computing
a person.

I train machine-learning models for a living and read the Book of Changes for the same reason — both are attempts to compute a human being, one in floating point, one in six lines.

Writing worth the time it takes to read.

A running series decoding the classics of Chinese thought — Taoism, strategy, and the mind — read as engineering, not scripture. Plus long-form on machine learning, markets, and how things actually work.

Who's at the desk.

Solo founder, CEO and CTO of an AI consumer-app company of about ten people, working across China and abroad. I do the machine learning, the product, and the fundraising, and I still write the interesting commits.

Before this: recommender systems on the App Store at Apple, quant macro at Bridgewater, and search at Baidu. Cambridge BA/MA, a Princeton PhD in machine learning, gold at the mathematics and physics olympiads.

Off the clock I study Buddhism and Chinese metaphysics — 八字, 紫微, 奇门, 易经 — not as belief but as the oldest, densest systems humans ever built for modeling a life. It turns out to be surprisingly good training for building AI that people trust with theirs.
